Here is my recent experience,
in the month of april my wife and I had received RFEs for 325 and birth certificate, we submitted the evidence and there was soft LUDs for almost a week, case status said a decision will be made in 60 days. I t is more than 90 days, so I called up the customer service (I very well know that they can't issue GC as the priority date is not current) I spoke to her as a layman and filed for a service request. Here is the email that I got:
Dear Mr. XXX:
On 07/27/2009 you, or the designated representative shown below, contacted us about your case. Some of the key information given to us at that time was the following:

We will notify you as soon as a decision regarding your application has been made. In the interim, you may review the status of your application by visiting our website at USCIS Home Page (http://www.uscis.gov). Dont go for gun even after you get green card. You can think about it after your citizenship. Green is just another type of visa which can be taken away. You right are fully protected only after you become a citizen. Even there also there is a catch in case of Naturalised of teh govt wants to go after you you cant dig you history and find a violation and base don that void te GC you got and teh citizenship.

This is story of a 84 year old Nazi from world war II whose citizenship was revoked. So even citizenship can be revoked.
If you want to own a gun, own a gun and follow proper procedures and laws related to gun ownership. You can be afraid of every little thing before you get your green card.
If you are going to immigrate, then immigrate and assimilate with pride and dignity and stop being afraid of every little thing that might eventually lead of revocation of any of your immigration statuses.

people can be so dumb...
it is better to wait for PD to become current than to convince some people (who seem to own houses-and hence are bent on opposing--wake up guys ..real estate is dead )
At last.. you got this self-realization. I have been trying to tell this in a more polished way ever since this thread was started

Knowing about future, or predicting what is to come, would help if we ought to do something in preparation; an advance action, such as nailing our windows shut if we are predicting a storm. That is not the case here. Therefore, sure shot 'prediction' is just to wait and see. It is only a few days away. If new cutoff date encompasses your PD, pray and check your email every day (or every hour or even minute), and hope for the best.
I agree with you. Next week we will see the bulletin and then some people will be elated if their predictions come right and some will be disapointed. Again in 20 days we will start a new thread for Oct bulletin and FY 2010. I guess it is just that we are keeping alive our hopes.

Thanks!
kayal,
AFAIK, Once you have a receipt number for 485, your 485 application will either be denied/approved. If approved, you will get your GC as a visa number has bee set aside. I 140 premium processing doesnt help you to get the GC by the end of the month.
talk to your lawyer to get the correct info about what happens with your 485 application with the retrogression of Schdeule A.

Can employee start working without SSN? My wife received H1 approval around Oct 2006 and we applied for SSN in Nov 2006. We received it by end of Feb 2007. From March 07 we got pay stubs.
People who switched from F2/H4 to H1 can consider their SSN application time as valid status. Right?
Person can start working after applying for the SSN.

>> People who switched from F2/H4 to H1 can consider their SSN application time as valid status.
No, After change of status (to H1-B) approval, person has 30 days (from approval date) to start working.
Not a legal advice

My PD is April 2002 which has become current as per the june bulletin. My I-140 was approved in April 2007 and the NVC created the case on May 15th 2007.
I have opted for consular proceesing.
My questions is at what stage of the further processing do i get a visa number allocated ?
Is it when NVC sends the fee receipt to my attorney or is it when the case is transferred to the consulate ?
I just want to know at what stage now i become insulated from any possible retrogression in the coming months.
Any help much appreciated
thanks

refers to the same superior being for the 3 religions (Christianity, Islam and Judaism). So "God" and "Allah" are the same.
Hindus refer to everything in the world as a representation of the supreme being. So they see the supreme being in everything. There is nothing wrong in workshiping the goodness of nature.
For some, "parents are gods", "guest is like god" etc. The main point is to accept everything the world has to offer. :)
A man without spirituality is like a rudderless boat. ;)

I understand it is a mess and I never suggested it should not be solved. However, I know a lot of my friends in PBEC who will apply PERM (pri dates 2003/04) if the pri dates for India became current.
And I am myself stuck in Dallas BEC which is not even taking a look at State cases. And yes, if EB2 became current, I will file another labor in a jiffy. So, yes, it is a mess there but we got to look for avenues out of it.
I am , in no way, suggesting that we should not support PBEC overhaul if thats what it takes to get labor approved. But right now, Comprehensive Immigration bill is about GC and H1 numbers for us, it will not deal with labor backlog, USCIS backlog etc. So, what do we do now - should we raise an issue that politicians will hear, but not act on, or do we raise a red-hot issue of what hard country limits will do and there is a fair chance it might be acted upon?
I hope you do not misunderstand this.

And also from my experience --- You got to keep poking the USCIS authorities for them to wake up and take your application to process.

I do know where I come from, I am from the UK. My screen name is Indiana as in the state where I live. I also know my own priority date. Since my PD only became current in May that was the earliest I could apply so my processing time is not unusual. The ones who are getting approved within three months are the unusual cases.

Unfortunately that report just shows that we are now on the radar of FAIR, a a very aggressive anti-immigrant group. Google to learn more about FAIR.
Did you read the title and the comment?
Of course, this is not surprising, that anti-immigrants are furious to discover that we have anything to do with Congress.
