I have applied for my H1b extension back in April......Have not heard anything yet........once I get my H1b approval, can I apply for H4 extension from inside the country?? (Is that even required if you are already in AOS pending status?)
No, it not required but maintaining H1/H4 status allows person to remain in USA and apply for appeal if, for some reason, I-485 is denied. Otherwise, person is out of status from the date I-485 was denied.

Few months back, 2 DMV officers gave me a tough time in CT. I wrote strong complaint and got a reply that, it will be allright if I go again and I went for the 3rd time and got it without hasstles.

I just got off the call from uscis regarding my I-485. My PD is in the first week of Mar 2006.
Per the USCIS website, they are suppose to process even the first week of Mar 2006 although the Aug VB says it is 01MAR06. I spoke to the second level IO and he was confident that my case would have to wait for the next month. I insisted that the uscis website says otherways, he went and verified with the third level (or his peer) and came back and told me that I was correct.
Infact told me that my case was pre-adjd and being reviewed by IO currently.
I am sure the same applies to you with the Sep VB. Good luck !!!

For all those filing I-140 and I-485 for the first time (I.E. No PD recapturing),
You DO NOT need to file I-140 in premium. YOu can simply file the I-485 AS-IS. Actually Right now since everyone is current ANYONE can file for the I-485 provided their Labour is approved. The only way the I-140 approval would help is with the 180 day clock after which the employer has no control over your GC application.
This is what my lawyer had told me when I had asked her last time. Now if the dates were still Retrogressed but your OLD PD was becoming CURRENT, IN THAT case you WOULD need your I-140 approved before you can file the I-485 coz at that time technically you cant file for a I-485 as without the PD recapture your PD would be today's PD and that would Not be current.

The only thing that can help us predict Sep bulletin is how many visa # have been used so far from 2009 quota. Since USCIS will be rushing to use up all visa # the quantity can least give us an idea if dates will move few months or few years. USCIS should not have trouble with either since they have so many pre-adjudicated applications to take care of both scenario's. I am pretty optimistic (realistically confident) that there will be a forward movement.
Knowing about future, or predicting what is to come, would help if we ought to do something in preparation; an advance action, such as nailing our windows shut if we are predicting a storm. That is not the case here. Therefore, sure shot 'prediction' is just to wait and see. It is only a few days away. If new cutoff date encompasses your PD, pray and check your email every day (or every hour or even minute), and hope for the best.

In January, IV already said that they raised nearly 200K in 2006. Also, there are federal reports on www.opensecrets.org and senate's office of public records about how Immigration Voice spent money. They spent nearly 140,000 in 2006.
I think that is enough transparency. There will be more when they file tax returns.
Its not that people dont trust IV with money. I think people are just fine with waiting for 10 more years for Greencard. That's why, the core group should shut down this nonsense and do something better with their time.

1. if your company pays for everything, why such reluctance to put up a few more dollars for your own cause? think of those that pay for everything themselves and still contribute.
2. each contribution to paypal costs, they take a chunk off it. making small 10 buck contribution is really not the intelligent way to go.
3. there used to be a 20/mnth recurring contribution. now it does no exist. what do you want? should we throw out the original 20 buck guys? of course they can continue doing it. i can't imagine why it would put you off? btw we did not really lose any money by going to a minimum of 50- you know why? those who were serious still contributed. others who were whining at that time (why is there not a 10/mnth option) were in many (though not all) cases not going to contribute anyway. this is just fyi.
4. what is 50 bucks a month? step back and think sometime. a family meal/movie? do you indulge yourself occasionally worth 50 bucks?
i think in many cases the answer is yes. the money we need for lobbying ie very large....it's hard to make it form 20 bucks at a time when barely 5% of the membership contributes.
you have the choice hereof donating 100 now and considering it as two 50 buck donations, so your next one will be delayed. there are various ways of looking at this.
there are various ways to contribute, money is just one of them- although very important. if you have not done this, join a state chapter and start meeting lawmakers in your area. get friends to join iv. put up fliers and posters in local grocery stores/fairs and festivals etc. there are many good examples of these activities being done successfully. in the end it's going to matter is whether we put enough effort to push over the line- whether it's today or in 2 years.

It all depends on the job requirements. MS+0 or BS+5 is considered as EB2. May be you can get a written statement from another well known attorney to help convince yours. Or you can try to use a different attorney if your employer permits.
