New DL renewal Procedure is a painful process which started August 1, 2006.
The process involves;
1. Visiting a DMV office and they will ask for your documents and give you a case number which you will present to MVI.
2. MVI will investigate your immigration status with USCIS and you will receive a letter after 5-7 days. If there is a problem, it will take upto 9 weeks. This means, you cannot drive until they have verified your legal status in the US.
This is a new procedure and I know a couple of friends who currently cannot drive because they cannot renew their license.
At first, DMV branches were unaware of this new procedure.
Has anyone been through this new process and successfully pass through MVI and renewed their license or is anyone waiting for the letter from MVI for more than 7 days.

I am shocked at your statement after seeing such an organized effort from IV. The only conclusion that I could make is - you are sympathetic to the 'anti-immigrant sentiments' and are out here to create trouble.
Anyways, instead of criticizing someone, please let us know what you have done for the cause.

Yes, WE do need to make sure to contact our congressmen and make sure they understand one thing (make those letters, faxes small and to the point):

I stopped by at my congressman's office and conveyed this message twice (one letter and another verbal communcation as a follow up on that letter). (I am lucky!! his office is two blocks from my home as he lives in same town).

I think, there is a strong message in this case, something I have personally faced in the past and do still face at at a smaller level. Though it is not an attempt to help raise money for her. I think IV should work on filing a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT for several reasons. Are we going to be coward legals waiting, for lazy folks at USCIS to undo the wrong they've done for so many years.
1. Blatant errors in the processing which has, destroyed , causing huge stress, trauma and what not to ppl waiting in limbo.
2. Inability to provide any insight on the basic timeline for any application. Look at the EB backlogs, they change there bulletin as if its a stock market, it can go forward or backward depending on the mood of the ppl working on any day.
3. Immigration is a burden on the legal immigrants, we pay for those ppl jobs. How can they offer such a sub-standard service, considering the hefty fees they charge from us.
4. The US constitution says " We the people", does not say "Legal Aliens" don't have any say or can't ask for justice.
5. We are legals, did not cross any border like those illegals, which this administration is so concerned about. We pay for services, not screw ups!
6. Lost EB visas for USCIS / DOS mis-handling.
7. Even if we loose the lawsuit, still we made our point. USCIS sucks! period
Ok now, i'm ready for all the red dots, who think that keeping quite will some how magically solve these problems. They need to be held accountable for what they've done.

I am probably waiting for the longest here for EAD, my app received on July 2nd at NCS. Called numerous times, sent form 7001, emailed senators twice, 3 infopass appointments, still no progress. I submitted expedite request based on humanitarian grounds last week, have been calling daily to check status of expedite and still remains pending. My case now pending about 157 days. Anything more that I need to do ?

I know there are a lot of ppl on this forum who have been in the US 6+ years and because of BEC/retrogression are thinking of moving to Canada. I am not suggesting that we should leave but I think its good to have a plan B.
Feel free to discuss matters like below (related to moving to Canada/Aus/India)
1. Canadian immigration process.
2. Finding jobs in canada.
3. Continuing current education (MS/MBA) in canada.
4. Operating current business from canada.
5. Move related issues: Taking household goods/cars etc.

India is an option but the $$ amount for outsourcing is getting expensive and US is finding new options in China/Eastern Europe/Isreal/Phillipines, I'm not sure about future. I know this is just thestarting but in some time the tide may turn and India might loose in the race (hope not).
Currently India is booming heavily and I HOPE it sustains the pace!!

No, we are not going to abuse this and we won't be sending stuff over and over. But stoppers have a very Specific significance: to educate and differentiate between legal and illegal. A stopper says "Stop the reverse brain drain"...A stopper would pique people's interest becase we are typically lumped in with illegals, and a stopper does not exemplify what illegals are. Illegal immigration's message is: "legalize us and help new guest workers come", our stopper says "We are already legal and are already leaving, fix this before we all leave"
Actually, many Indians with US Citizenship are leaving too. What I have seen with my friends and coworkers is that, the moment they receive the US passport they book a flight to India and come back when ever they please. If media picks up that fact, then what is our strategy?

Thank a ton for the help, Can you please tell in more detail what i need to do/say there? I have heard that people are being turned back pretty rudely at local offices. Also do i need to fill any forms before i go there?

o Underlying application remains pending
o Determine if RFE has been issued, thus tolling the 90-day adjudicative requirement
o Form I-765 remains unadjudicated
o Biometrics have been captured�if not, refer to ASC
� Contact NBC or Service Center to initiate EAD production�either Interim or Non-Interim
� Provide Notice to applicant acknowledging status inquiry.
